In the near future, Earth is dying. A team of astronauts, including mission pilot Gallagher (Val Kilmer) and Commander Bowman (Carrie-Anne Moss), embarks on a critical mission to Mars. Their goal is to investigate a terraforming project designed to make the red planet habitable, but upon arrival, they find the mission has gone terribly wrong and they must fight for survival against a hostile planet and a rogue military robot.
