He recounts how he chopped down all the Truffula Trees to knit "Thneeds," ignoring the warnings of the Lorax, who "speaks for the trees".

This TV special is "commonly recognized as a fable concerning the danger of humanity's greed". It was Dr. Seuss's personal favorite of all his books, as he "managed to create an engaging story highlighting how economic growth is often prioritised over environmental issues". This DVD also includes the bonus cartoon Pontoffel Pock & His Magic Piano.
